According to reports the duo, who last collaborated on Mukunda Murari, in which Sudeep did an extended cameo, are in talks for two projects.
It’s been a while since Kiccha Sudeep has announced a new collaboration. The actor, who is awaiting the release of his pan-India action fantasy drama Vikrant Rona, is committed to at least two more films with director Anup Bhandari, namely Ashwatthama and Billa Ranga Basha. He has also confirmed a project with Maanadu maker Venkat Prabhu, but there’s been no update on this for a while. He is rumoured to be collaborating with Saaho director Sujeeth as well.
Today, the buzz was that the actor is looking at collaborating with director Nanda Kishore yet again. Nanda, who directed Sudeep in Ranna almost a decade ago and then gave him an extended cameo in Mukunda Murari, apparently met the actor and discussed the possibility of working on not one but two subjects with universal appeal. While Sudeep is apparently enthused by the idea, he will greenlight these projects based on how the scripts turn out.
Fans, meanwhile, had mixed response to this buzz and urged Sudeep to only work on original subjects. Nanda’s Ranna was a remake (Attarintiki Daredi), as was Mukunda Murari (OMG – Oh My God). In fact, the filmmaker has a track record of making remakes - Adhyaksha (Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam), Victory (The Odd Job), Brihaspati (VIP - Velaiilla Pattadhari) – so fans urged him to work on original content with Sudeep. A few others, though, opined that given his current line-up of films, with Anup, Venkat and Sujeeth, it is unlikely that Sudeep will collaborate with Nanda Kishore at this point.
Nanda Kishore was earlier supposed to work with his Pogaru leading man Dhruva Sarja yet again, on a project called Dubari with Sreeleela as the heroine, to be produced by Uday Mehta, who had earlier made Bachchan with Sudeep. However, for reasons best known to the team, this film was scuttled, and Nanda instead proceeded to make a film with Shreyas Manju, the son of veteran producer K Manju, called Raana, which is currently in post-production.
