Kiccha Sudeep is all set to bid adieu to Bigg Boss Kannada after the ongoing Season 11
Kiccha Sudeep is stepping down from his role as host of Bigg Boss Kannada
In August this year, there were murmurs that Kiccha Sudeep, who’s been the face of Bigg Boss Kannada since its inception, was looking at quitting the show. In fact, his fans had been urging him for a while to distance himself from Bigg Boss Kannada, given the deteriorating quality of contestants, and the show itself.
During a media briefing a few days ahead of his birthday, Sudeep had spoken about how painstaking it was for him to shuttle between Mahabalipuram, where the shoot of Max was happening, and Bengaluru, for the duration of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10. There were days he’d had little to no rest before taking the stage for the weekend episodes of the reality show, which includes watching recaps of the entire week’s episodes and then prepping for his bit.
Bigg Boss Kannada 11: Netizens divided about Kiccha Sudeep’s departure as host
Sudeep said that he hoped that the channel would look for a replacement, and a few names did the rounds at the time, but within days, it was confirmed that the Kannada superstar was hosting the 11th season as well. Not long after, the show began, though, Sudeep took to social media to confirm that this would be his last stint hosting it.
In an interview with The Hindu, during the promotions of Max, Sudeep addressed why he chose to leave after 11 seasons. “The day I tweeted, I was very tired and I thought that was an honest exhaustion and that I was right in thinking that way. If I hadn’t tweeted then and there, by the next day, the thought process would have, perhaps, been different. Since the thought came up, I thought it was best to tweet it, so that it becomes a commitment from my end to myself,” said Sudeep jovially, but then, on a more serious note, he added that there were “inside agendas” also.
Elaborating on his decision, Sudeep said that he does not want to pretend that there were no issues. “Not everyone around deserved my effort,” said Sudeep, reminiscing about managing his other commitments and Bigg Boss Kannada. The superstar adds that there was no enough appreciation for the efforts that he was taking to ensure that the show went ahead without a hitch week-on-week. “When I don’t see that happening, I’d rather put that same effort into my films,” he says.
The issue, though, is not just with how he was treated. Sudeep finally admitted what audiences and his fans have been saying for a while about the quality of the show. “Bigg Boss Kannada deserves better approach and respect, like how the show is treated in other languages. I don’t see that happening here. It’s not about me. Compare Bigg Boss Kannada and all the other versions and then check the visuals, the approach. Our audiences deserve more respect,” he signs off.
