Kiccha Sudeep and Vikrant Rona trending on social media, but why?

Sudeep and Yash fans are indulging in social media warfare

Fan wars in Kannada cinema often take ugly turns and it looks like one is brewing on social media between followers of Yash and Kiccha Sudeep. In the days since the release of KGF: Chapter 2, there have been questions galore about why big stars like Sudeep or even Darshan, for that matter, have not written to the team or Yash to wish them well. An old video of Sudeep being asked about KGF and responding that he is not in the film has also resurfaced without providing context of the conversation or if the actor said anything more.

This, of course, has irked Sudeep’s fans, who pulled out the actor’s 2018 tweet after the trailer of KGF: Chapter 1 came out, wherein the actor had written, “Seems like a valcano about to erupt. My best wshs to th team of #KGF . Hats of to Prashanth for his mind-boggling vision. He along with team has taken it to another level... Yash looks splendid. Kudos to @hombalefilms for their passion.”

Sudeep’s tweet, though, went unheeded by anyone from team KGF, so fans believe that the actor is justified in not commenting about KGF: Chapter 2. They also pointed out that back in the day when Yash was still struggling to find a foothold in the Kannada film industry, Sudeep came forward to launch the audio of his film Rajadhani. Also, when Sudeep nominated Yash for a trending fitness challenge, the latter responded saying that since he, as an actor, was anyway staying fit, he was passing it on to a friend who was in need of some exercise. Yash wrote, “Thanks Sudeep. Actors keep working out, so this is not something that is new to us. So, I thought I would add a twist to this challenge. I have made my childhood friend Chetan, aka Chakli, take up this challenge," for which he was trolled by Sudeep’s fans.

It has also been pointed out that Sudeep has an upcoming release, Vikrant Rona, later this year, glimpses of which have been put out in the public domain, but no one from team KGF has said a word of appreciation.

Incidentally, Sudeep is usually at the forefront of supporting film teams – big and small – across industries. The actor has chosen not to respond to the latest ‘allegations’.
