Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu's Khel Khel Mein clashed with Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 and John Abraham's Vedaa at the box office. All three movies were released on Independence Day this year. However, Stree 2 emerged as a box office winner while Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa underperformed at the box office. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, KKM director Mudassar Aziz opened up about his film's box office performance.

Mudassar Aziz on Khel Khel Mein's BO report

Speaking about Khel Khel Mein's box office report (Rs 26.01 crore), Mudassar Aziz told the news publication, "My opinion would obviously be one of emotional attachment with KKM. So I will take an objective standpoint and say films like Kantara (2022) and Pushpa: The Rise (2021), when they started out, actually did box office numbers across a stretch of a number of days."

Having said that, the filmmaker stated he would be 'dishonest' if he said the film's box office performance didn't affect him. But he chooses to look on its good side. "It would be wrong to say it doesn't shake you in the beginning. Slowly what seeps in is the fact that your acid test is coming from the reactions," added the Khel Khel Mein director.

On changing dynamics of how films fare at BO

The filmmaker added the dynamic of how movies fare at the box office is ever-changing. Mudassar also believes that if the mettle of one's film is accepted by the audience, then 'you find your way around that'. Talking about Khel Khel Mein, the movie features an ensemble star cast that includes Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, Vaani Kapoor, and more.

The comedy-drama film, written by Mudassar, is based on an Italian film, The Perfect Strangers. Produced by T-Series Films, Wakaoo Films, and White World Productions, Khel Khel Mein received a decent response from critics and audiences.
