The streaming giant had made the film available to view on payment of Rs 199, over and above subscription charges to the platform on May 16. Starting May 27, no additional amount will be payable to access the same.
KGF: Chapter 2 may have taken the box office across the globe by storm, but there is no denying that a large section of the population is still waiting to catch a glimpse of the Yash starrer in the comfort of their homes. The digital rights of the film had been snapped up by Amazon Prime Video for a very hefty price. At the time, it was reported that the streamer had secured a deal for on or or before 50 days from date of theatrical release for the OTT debut.
The film was, therefore, slated to be available in all languages, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam starting May 27. But the platform decided to make it available even earlier, albeit at a price. On May 16, KGF: Chapter 2 became available to subscribers at an additional cost of Rs 199, which would allow them access to the Prashant Neel directorial for 48 hours. This, of course, did not go well with subscribers, who decried the additional burden, which comes over and above the Rs 1499 annual subscription to the platform.
But that will soon be a thing of the past. KGF: Chapter 2 will be available at no additional cost starting May 27. Following the pay-per-view announcement, the internet was abuzz with articles about watching KGF: Chapter 2 for free. Well, that’s not entirely true. You will still have to pay and become a subscriber of Amazon Prime to access the film. It will be free only if you choose to lay your hands on a pirated copy of the film instead.
KGF: Chapter 2, produced by Hombale Films, has broken several box office records across the globe since its April 14 theatrical release. The film, starring Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj, among others, is still playing in movie halls.
