The much-awaited sequel of the Kannada blockbuster, KGF, hit theatres worldwide on April 14 with fan shows beginning as early as 4am in India
The day has arrived when audiences across the world get to know whether Yash’s Rocky bhai from the KGF franchise finally gets the ‘duniya’ he has been striving for. Director Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 2, which also has Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Srinidhi Shetty as part of the cast, hit theatres worldwide on April 14 with fan shows beginning as early as 4am in certain parts of the country.
The movie starts off where KGF had ended, with Rocky bhai taking his place as the head of Kolar Gold Fields. But a new challenge and probably the toughest in his life is thrown his way in the form of the antagonist Adheera, who he must wage war against now.
Both Prashanth and Yash have repeatedly stated that the lion’s share of Rocky’s story have been reserved for the film’s sequel, which has also been made on a much bigger budget and scale than its predecessor.
Also, it’s not just about Rocky – with characters of Sanjay’s Adheera, Srinidhi’s Reena Desai and Raveena’s Raimika Sen getting their due screen space. The movie promises to have enough emotional sequences to balance its ‘mass’ scenes and dialogues, which made the first part a pan-Indian blockbuster.
The movie released in theatres in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu today, and is expected to break a lot of box office records, not just in South India. It has already broken the record of SS Rajamouli’s RRR in terms of advance tickets sales and with a festive weekend coming up, the hype for the film will continue. Here’s a look at the early Twitter reviews of the film.
Audiences have praised director Prashanth for the big scale at which the action-blockbuster has been mounted as well as for its writing. However, some weren't too happy with its hypermasculinity and violence.
The best praises were reserved for both Yash and the movie's music director Ravi Basrur, who apparently added another dimension to the film's emotional scenes as well as its plenty of 'mass' sequences, which are sure to thrill the die-hard fans.
Those who have watched the film has also asked others to stay in the cinema halls for a surprising post-credit scene.
With the hype the movie has managed to generate, Yash's KGF 2 could surely lead the way in redefining 'event' films that appeal to the entire country.
