KGF: Chapter 2

Just when you thought that the KGF 2 mania has diminished, the film is back in the news with one more grand achievement. The Yash starrer has successfully completed its 50-day theatrical run and is currently playing on as many as 400 screens across the world. The makers of the film took to social media to make this announcement and also thank all their ardent fans for the consistent show of love.

"Thank You for scripting a monstrous milestone with us💥 A promise was once made n that promise was well kept. Thank you for making this possible with your unconditional love n unwavering support. We can still feel the jubilation n the reverberation of the Monster celebration #KGF2," read the tweet by Hombale Films that was posted earlier today, on May 2. The film is currently running in 390+ centres in India and 10+ overseas screens.

KGF: Chapter 2 released worldwide in cinema halls on April 14 and took absolutely no time to stamp its authority on the global box office. The opening day collections of the film for the Hindi and Kannada versions are now the highest in history with the other three dubbed releases of Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam too faring tremendously well. The Hindi release beat the Hrithik Roshan - Tiger Shroff starrer War in its pursuits and has earned over Rs. 450 crores to this day, standing at the #2 position (after Baahubali: The Conclusion) in terms of lifetime collections. As far as the global box office is concerned, K.G.F: Chapter 2 inched past S.S. Rajamouli's RRR to own the third spot in the list of highest-grossing Indian movies (Dangal and Baahubali 2 have taken the top two positions). The film also benefitted from the inclusion of Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon, two senior Bollywood actors, in the ensemble cast.

Prashanth Neel has written and directed both KGF films and has already risen in prominence as one of the country's biggest filmmakers active today. Neel is currently busy making Salaar, starring Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and others, and continues to be associated with producer Vijay Kiragandur and Hombale Films - the same combination is slated to work on Chapter 3 of KGF but the project is said to have been "back-burnered" for now. Prashanth Neel is expected to wrap up Salaar soon and begin work on the Jr. NTR film (#NTR31). Yash, on the other hand, is yet to announce his next.
