The highly anticipated Kerala State Film Awards 2024 are finally announced. The prestigious honours were announced by Saji Cheriyan, the Kerala Minister of Cultural Affairs, at a press meeting held at the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram today. The finest talents in the Malayalam film industry, who made a mark in the year 2023, are honoured in this edition of the prestigious awards. Prithviraj Sukumaran won the Best Actor award for his performance in Aadujeevitham. Urvashi and Beena R Chandran bagged the Best Actress awards for their performances in Ullozhukku and Thadavu, respectively.

If the reports are to be believed, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mammootty were the top contenders for the Best Actor trophy at the final round of Kerala State Film Awards 2024. Urvashi, the senior actress, entered the final round along with her Ullozhukku co-star, Parvathy Thiruvothu. Both Aadujeevitham and Ullozhukku, which were censored in 2023, have been considered for all the most popular categories, this year.

As reported earlier, the Kerala Government’s most prestigious honour dedicated to the talents of the film industry, had around 160 movie entries in its first round, this time. An external jury reportedly handpicked around 50 films from the initial list, and they made it to the second round of Kerala State Film Awards 2024. The films that entered the second round are personally screened by filmmaker Sudhir Mishra and the other jury members, including directors Lijo Jose Pellissery and Priyanandanan, cinematographer Azhagappan, and others.
