The murder mystery film stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone
So, Anurag Kashyap has finally shared the teaser of his much-awaited ‘police noir’ film Kennedy and it’s every bit dark, intense and intriguing. Poised to premiere at Cannes 2023, the film stars Rahul Bhat (as Kennedy) and Sunny Leone (as Charlie). After being showcased at Festival De Cannes 2023’s ‘Midnight Screenings’ (from May 16-27), Kennedy will be screened at the Sydney Film Festival on May 24. Earlier this week, the Gangs of Wasseypur director had shared new images of the lead actors from the crime thriller movie.
The teaser, which might give you the vibe of the 1940s and 50s, also features a rather dramatic orchestra-style background score. “Bataaaa...kitna maza aaya...yeh teaser dekh ke?!,” asks Anurag, as he posts the teaser on his social media pages, adding, “Kennedy by Anurag Kashyap premieres at @FestivalDeCannes on May 24 followed by the @sydfilmfest”.

A Zee Studios and Good Bad Films presentation, the narrative follows the journey of an insomniac ex-cop (Rahul), who although is assumed to be dead, continues to operate for the corrupt system.

Rahul - who previously worked with Anurag in Ugly and Dobaaraa - recently spoke about landing the role in Kennedy. He told IANS “Three years ago, my life fell apart and just when I felt I couldn’t plunge deeper into an abyss, there came along Anurag Kashyap who showed me facets of darkness that I didn’t even know existed within me. Kennedy is a character that both ripped me apart and stitched me back again.”
While not much is revealed about Sunny’s character yet, the diva sure steals the show in the teaser by her mysterious looks, and a loud laugh! Kennedy is also seen as the celebrated director’s rebound, as his recent releases - Dobaaraa and Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat - couldn’t command the audience’s attention as much.
