KBC 16: Amitabh Bachchan recalls Meena Kumari's performance in song Na Jao Saiyan - 'I found myself watching...'

Amitabh Bachchan recently opened up about Meena Kumari's graceful performance in Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam's song Na Jao Saiyan. The megastar spoke about this Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.

Amitabh Bachchan has worked with several talented actresses in his career spanning more than five decades. However, the legendary Bollywood actor never got a chance to work with actress Meena Kumari in his career. Recently, on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Sr Bachchan expressed his regret about not being able to work with the late actress. On the quiz show, Big B recalled her 'graceful' performance in the song Na Jao Siyan from Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam.

A snippet of Amitabh Bachchan's conversation regarding Meena Kumari from KBC 16's upcoming episode has surfaced online. While interacting with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3's Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan, Sr Bachchan said, "In Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, there’s a song, Na Jao Saiyan, where she performed so gracefully that I found myself watching her continuously."

Big B further mentioned, "The art of sitting in one place quietly, singing the song, and coupled with her radiance, the effects used to be marvellous. They used to take long shots back then and I think that was the beauty of it all. Unlike today, every shot ends in just a few words."

The veteran actor also called Waheeda Rehman his 'absolute favourite' actress. Big B recalled Rehma's close-up shot from Pyaasa which left an incredible remark on him. "What a beautiful shot it was; it took two or three takes to light up that close-up. These days, it all happens so quickly, but back then, it was never like that," he added.

Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actors Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan will be part of a special episode on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. The episode will air tonight on Sony Entertainment Television at 9:30 pm. It will also stream on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
