Kate Winslet-starrer Mare of Easttown has become the talk of the town after its gripping season finale on Disney+ Hotstar Premium. Set in a small town of Pennsylvania, the 7-episode series follows the case of a local murder investigated by detective Mare Sheehan – brilliantly portrayed by actor Kate Winslet. Through the investigation, several hidden truths come to the fore and put the spotlight on multiple suspects who were all known to the victim Erin McMenamin.
Branded as limited series, fans have been speculating about the second season but there hasn’t been any confirmation from the makers yet. Talking about another instalment, Kate said that she would love to play Mare again if it's possible. Moreover, she also mentioned that she already misses Mare of Easttown.
The show was released with a hugely positive response. Many celebs and critics took to social media handles to appreciate and congratulate the show.
Emmy Award and three-time Golden Globe nominee actor Zach Braff applauded the show, and wrote, “What a beautiful and heart-breaking piece of art. Thank you to everyone involved. #MareOfEasttown”.
Author Aseem Chhabra wrote, “Maybe it’s my state of mind. But I found the #MareOfEasttown finale deeply moving, a departure from the thriller it was turning out to be. Very satisfying show, great acting. #KateWinslet was good from the beginning, but #JulianneNicholson was exceptional in the last episode.”
Writer Durjoy Datta admitted to being hooked to the show and wrote, “With so much distraction around, can't even remember the last time I binged watched something. Came across HBO's #MareOfEasttown on @DisneyplusHSP. Just.Blew.My.Mind.”
Writer Ravinder Singh seemed all excited for the finale “For me the best series of 2021 so far has been #MareOfEasttown on @DisneyplusHSP. Seeing Kate Winslet on screen after so long is. Have you seen it? Thoughts?”
