Directed by Mridul Nair and starring Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Vinayakan, Siddique, and Malavika Sreenath in pivotal roles, Kasargold is based on gold smuggling
Asif Ali-starrer crime drama Kasargold will soon be available to stream on OTT after a lukewarm response at the box office. Even though the film wasn't lauded like director Mridul Nair's earlier film, B Tech, Kasargold carries his signature style of filmmaking. The film, written by Sajimon Prabhakar, also stars Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Vinayakan, and Siddique in pivotal roles, with Malavika Sreenath as the female lead. Kasargold will be available to stream on Netflix from October 13. And here are some reasons why this may just be the film you'll want to watch this weekend...
Mridul Nair's signature filmmaking style
Kasargold may have received criticism for its poor script, but the exceptional direction of Mridul Nair makes it a must-watch. The movie keeps audiences engaged, as Mridul has made Kasargold a celebratory and fast-paced flick. The film's colour tone and locations are well picked and add to the overall cinematic experience. While the story may have some shortcomings, Mridul, who co-wrote the film with Sajimon Prabhakar, the characterisation is exceptional, as are the scenes that show how politicians and corrupt cops can harm society.

Asif Ali's powerful performance
Asif has played eccentric roles like Albert in Kasargold before, but the energy in his performance in this film makes it lively. Even though the actor doesn't have to do anything drastically different from what he's done before, Asif's star power benefits the film. Asif the entertainer is utilised completely in Kasargold. His performance is reminiscent of his roles in Kili Poyi and Unnam.
Vishnu Vijay's music
Vishnu Vijay, who is renowned for his unconventional work in films like Thallumaala, managed to weave magic once again with Kasargold. The fast-paced action and pivotal moments in the film are well supported by his musical score at several parts. In fact, the score takes center stage in many scenes when the script takes a back seat.
Sunny Wayne's mature performance
Sunny Wayne's performance as Faizal deserves high praise, as the actor has convincingly played a vulnerable man who is in dire need of money. Sunny, who played an innocent man in Appan, has once again shown off his acting prowess by playing Faizal. He has also done a remarkable job in the action scenes alongside Asif and Vinayakan.
Vibrant and colourful visuals
Kasargold is clearly targets a young audience which appreciates a celebratory film. The visuals aid in creating an exuberant atmosphere. Shooting in Goa, along with the slow-motion shots, effectively conveyed the overall mood of the movie. Cinematographer Jebin Jacob deserves appaluse for consistently exuding style through his frames.
