Kartik Aaryan's film Chandu Champion is based on Murlikant Petkar's life, who is India's first Paralympic gold medalist. Here's how he reacted after watching the Kabir Khan directorial.
Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated movie, Chandu Champion. The Bollywood actor will be essaying the role of Murilkant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist, in Kabir Khan's film. While the film is scheduled to release on June 14, the makers held a special screening for Indian army officers and soldiers. Murlikant Petkar, who was also present at the screening, was moved to tears after watching Chandu Champion.
In an interview with Zoom, filmmaker Kabir Khan revealed Murlikant Petkar watched Chandu Champion with the Chief of the Army. As per the director, it is necessary to take an NOC from the Army when a film is made about them. And when the screening of the Kartik Aaryan was held, all officers were moved by the film.
Kartik revealed Murlikant, too, was in tears after watching Chandu Champion. "While crying he (Murlikant Petkar) told me 'tumne mujhe rula diya'. It was an emotional screening and everybody was short on words," said Aaryan. The actor added that there will be a lump in audiences' throats once they watch his film on the big screen. "It is a film all of us are really proud of and it is a story everybody should know," mentioned Kartik.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan underwent a drastic transformation for Chandu Champion. The actor shared before-and-after photos of his transformation on Instagram.
While sharing the same, the actor wrote, "From 39 % body fat to 7 % body fat !! From being an ‘insomniac’ to turning into a ‘fitness enthusiast’, it’s surely a journey of one and half years to remember for me. The life of the living legend Mr Murlikant Petkar, not only made me a stronger human being but also, further installed the belief that if you can dream it, then you can achieve it... nothing is impossible (sic)."
