Karthi’s Sardar 2 to go on floors in April 2024; check out the latest update

Sardar 2, the sequel to the Karthi-starrer Sardar, will reportedly start rolling from April 2024. The Karthi film’s sequel was announced earlier, and it is now being reported that director PS Mithran has finished the scripting and zeroed in on April 2024 to begin shooting for the film.
The latest reports also suggest that composer Yuvan Shankar Raja is likely to replace GV Prakash, who had composed the music for the first instalment. Yuvan has previously worked in films such as Irumbu Thirai and Hero.
George C Williams, who did the cinematography for the first part, will be returning for the sequel. Prince Pictures will be bankrolling this movie.
For the uninitiated, Sardar, the first instalment focused on a disgraced spy (played by Karthi), who returns from a long exile to stop the launch of a suspicious company that plans to spread toxic water across the country. In the spy-action film, Karthi was seen playing dual roles alongside Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel.
Sardar 2 to go on floors after Karthi completes other films
Karthi, who has been tied up with several projects that are mostly sequels, will reportedly commence shooting for Sardar 2 from April 2024. The actor is currently working for Vaa Vaathiyaare directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and 96-fame Prem Kumar’s project.
The actor also has an exciting lineup awaiting next year. From Kaithi 2 to Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru 2, the Kollywood star has a bunch of sequels for cinephiles to look forward to.
Karthi’s last outing
Karthi’s Diwali release, heist-action-comedy film Japan, had a poor run at the box office due to negative reception from audience and critics alike. The Raju Murugan directorial follows Japan, a notorious thief who steals ₹200-crore worth jewels from a jewellery shop in Coimbatore, leading to a cat-and-mouse chase between him and the cops. The movie clashed with Karthik Subbaraj’s western action comedy Jigarthanda Double X.
Japan is now streaming on Netflix.
