Sardar 2 will mark the second collaboration between director PS Mithran and actor Karthi after the 2022 instalment.

Sardar 2 update: Rathna Kumar joins as scriptwriter

We had earlier reported that PS Mithran and Karthi will be teaming up once again to make the sequel of 2022 spy thriller Sardar. The puja ceremony for the film is scheduled on February 2, and the latest reports reveal that Rathna Kumar, who had penned the screenplay for Vijay’s Leo, has joined forces with director PS Mithran to write the script of Sardar 2. Rathna Kumar is a long-time collaborator of director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who directed Leo.

The Sardar 2 team had earlier announced that a grand puja ceremony will be held on February 2, and is said to have invited many well-known names from the industry. As per reports, the film is set on a high budget and is going to be backed by Prince Pictures.

The ambitious project will mark the second collaboration between director PS Mithran and actor Karthi after the 2022 instalment. The film is rumoured to be a spy thriller like the original, and will have many new sets of actors on board. Yuvan Shankar Raja will be scoring the music for the film, replacing G V Prakash Kumar, who had scored the music for its first instalment. George C Williams, who did the cinematography for the first part, will be returning for the sequel.

About Sardar

The first instalment, starring Karthi, saw the actor donning double roles, and also starred Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel playing key characters.

Karthi's other projects

Apart from Sardar 2, the Tamil actor will also return to do sequels of Kaithi and Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. He will also be playing alongside Arvind Swamy in 96-fame Prem C Kumar directorial which is yet to be titled. The actor will also be seen in other interesting projects that will be unveiled soon.

Meanwhile, Rathna Kumar who is currently busy with Thalaivar 171, will begin scripting for the Karthi-starrer soon.
