The theatres in Tamil Nadu are struggling to find fresh Tamil content to draw audiences, and Karthi's Paiyaa is set to fill the empty schedules.
Paiyaa is one of the significant films in actor Karthi's career. On March 2 this year, the film completed 14 years since its first release in 2010. And on this occasion, the filmmakers have decided to re-release the beloved film in theatres.
As per industry sources, Paiyaa will re-release in cinemas on April 11. In 2010, Paiyaa gave a much-needed break to Karthi, who was reeling under the commercial failure of his ambitious movie Aayirathil Oruvan. Written and directed by Selvaraghavan, Aayirathil Oruvan was released in cinemas the same year.
After making a terrific screen debut with Paruthiveeran in 2007, Karthi worked on Aayirathil Oruvan for two years. The film created quite a hype with its teaser trailer, and its music album by composer G. V. Prakash Kumar was also a big hit. However, after its release in cinemas, the film failed to live up to expectations at the box office.

As with all good films, over the years, Aayirathil Oruvan has gained a cult following, with many celebrating it as one of the milestone films in Tamil cinema.
However, at that time, when Karthi needed a big break at the box office, it was director N. Linguswamy's action drama that came to his rescue.
Paiyaa is a fast-paced action thriller filled with love, betrayal, and adrenaline-pumping action sequences. Besides Karthi, the film also featured Tamannaah as the female lead. The road movie was an instant hit and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2010, solidifying Karthi's position as a bankable talent in Tamil cinema.
The theatres in Tamil Nadu are struggling to find fresh Tamil content to draw audiences, and Paiyaa is set to fill the empty schedules. All major releases in Tamil have been postponed owing to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
