Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani, and Raashii Khanna play the lead roles in Yodha.
The decision to release Prabhas-starring Salaar on December 22, against Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited film Dunki shocked the industry earlier this week. The date of September 28 was set as the premiere for the action movie. The rest of the month's releases have been impacted by the shift to the week before Christmas.
Karan Johar's strategic move amidst the SRK and Prabhas clash
Yodha, which was set to be released on December 15, according to Bollywood Hungama, will be postponed to a later date. Yodha is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, a source confirmed to the entertainment portal. The filmmaker recognised it would be tough for Yodha to hold onto theatres in the second week with the release of Dunki and Salaar. Even if both films do well at the box office, it will be difficult for their distributors to compete with Yodha.
The source further said that it is common knowledge that SRK and Karan have worked together for many years. Since the ace filmmaker presented the Hindi version of the Baahubali franchise, he is also close to Prabhas. So, he's postponing bringing Yodha to the premiere in order to avoid upstaging SRK and the Telugu star.
Uncertain fate:
It is unclear at this time whether Karan will reschedule Yodha to December 8 or another date in November, or whether Yodha will be delayed until 2024. In a few days, there should be a clearer picture.
Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani, and Raashii Khanna are the leads in Yodha. Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha are the film's directors. Its original release date, September 15, has been pushed back. Since SRK's Jawan occupied the September 7 slot, the release date was moved back to December 15 as a result.
Dunki's potential reschedule:
There are rumours that Dunki will be released on December 21st, according to a source in the business. In a perfect world, the film would also open in India a day ahead of its international debut. Yodha would have had only six days to score before the major fight if this had happened.
Merry Christmas fate!
On December 15, in addition to Yodha there were other films coming out. Also set for release on December 15 is Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. The question now is if the producers of the Sriram Raghavan-directed film would likewise move their release date or if they would stick to their original plan to premiere a week before Dunki and Salaar.
