Karan Johar has debunked rumours of Janhvi Kapoor replacing Alia Bhatt in Dulhania 3. Amid the ongoing speculation, the filmmaker shared a clarification.

There's a lot of curiosity around the third installment of the 'Dulhania' franchise. Several media reports recently suggested that Janhvi Kapoor would be replacing Alia Bhatt in Dulhania 3, starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role. Amid the ongoing speculation of Janhvi taking over Alia's part in the film, Karan Johar has issued a clarification note on social media. The filmmaker dismissed the rumours surrounding the movie.

Karan Johar on Dulhania 3 speculations

Karan Johar penned a clarification note on his Instagram stories. The filmmaker right away debunked the rumours of Janhvi replacing Alia in Dulhania's third installment. KJo stated that his production house, Dharma Productions, would share official details at the right time.

The filmmaker requested that the media not speculate about the continuation of a franchise or the beginning of one. "We will give details when the time and plans are formulated and fructified! We are humbled by the excitement shown to our future films but would love to have accuracy instead of speculation… Respectfully, Karan Johar (sic)," wrote Karan Johar.

Details about the Dulhania franchise

Dharma Productions' Dulhania franchise started in 2014 with the release of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt played the lead roles in the film, while the late Sidharth Shukla also had a pivotal role in the movie. Following Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania's success, the makers released its quasi-sequel, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, with Varun and Alia's return to the film.

Both movies were directed by filmmaker Shashank Khaitan and Karan Johar bankrolled the franchise. With KJo dismissing speculations around the third part, it remains to be seen whether which actors would eventually work in Dulhania 3.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar delivered a successful directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, last year. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, the film did well at the box office.
