Karan Johar on Sonam becoming a mother: I don’t think Anil will like being called a nana

Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja welcomed their first child on August 20. Social media was flooded with congratulations to the young couple as soon as they revealed the news that the boy had been born. Karan Johar did not comment on a social media post, but he congratulated Sonam and the family, while interacting with his fans on an Instagram live session.

The director also congratulated Sonam's sister Rhea Kapoor and her husband Karan Boolani, in addition to congratulating the new parents as well as grandparents Anil and Sunita Kapoor. He said, “I can’t believe Sonam is a mother now. I don’t think Anil will like being called a nana (grandfather) because he is jawaan as hell.”

Sonam and Anand shared the exciting announcement on social media, adding, “On 20.08.2022, we welcomed our beautiful baby boy with bowed heads and hearts. Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, friends and family who have supported us on this journey. It’s only the beginning but we know our lives are forever changed (sic) .”

In a recent interview with Vogue, Sonam had opened up about her decision to have children. “Priorities do change and I think that the child will become mine. The truth of the matter is that they didn’t choose to come into this world. You decided to bring them here.”

Sonam and Anan tied the knot in a grand traditional Indian ceremony on May 8, 2018. The actress made the announcement of her pregnancy through her maternity photoshoot in March this year. Prior to the birth of their child, Sonam and Anand also travelled to Italy for their babymoon.

On the work front, Sonam was last featured on The Zoya Factor in 2019. She will soon appear in Shome Makhija's suspenseful drama Blind which also has Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey in crucial parts.
