Karan Johar disappointed on Merry Christmas clashing with Yodha

Today, filmmaker Karan Johar feels crestfallen knowing about the upcoming clash between Katrina Kaif’s Merry Christmas and Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha.

Karan Johar, on Instagram Threads, expressed his sheer disappointment upon knowing this development. He wrote, “Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers …. If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days, then calling us a fraternity is futile….”

Just a few hours ago, superstars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi announced the new release date of Merry Christmas and it is slated to be released on December 15. The film was earlier supposed to be released theatrically on December 23, ahead of the Christmas weekend.

In the announcement, Katrina Kaif wrote on Instagram, “We decided to cut short the wait for the Christmas cheer! #MerryChristmas releasing in theatres near you ON 15th DECEMBER 2023. #SriramRaghavan @tipsfilmsofficial”

It will be for the first time that superstar Katrina Kaif will be sharing screen space with Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi.

With this announcement, it became clearly evident that Katrina Kaif’s movie is going to clash with actor Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha at the box office. Yodha is an upcoming theatrical movie that is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film also stars Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles.

Yodha too, was earlier slated to be released on July 7 but was later pushed forward to avoid impact on the box-office collection of Kiara Advani’s SatyaPrem Ki Katha.

Clearly, a game of musical chairs is going on at the box office wherein high-budget films are likely to hit the theatres together in December.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which is slated to hit the theatres on July 28. It features Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles.
