Dhadak marked Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's entry in Bollywood.
Karan Johar has shared an update on Dhadak 2. The filmmaker has clarified that there is no sequel to Janhvi Kapoor-Ishaan Khatter’s film, at least not yet. The original movie is inspired from the Marathi movie, Sairat. Since Sairat doesn’t have a sequel yet, there’s a high chance Dhadak 2 might not happen.
Karan clarified the same as his Instagram story. “To put this on the record and for all concerned we (Dharma Productions) are NOT making a film with the title DHADAK 2 as is being reported in various articles…”

Various news reports suggested that Karan had signed Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri for Dhadak 2. The film was reportedly being directed by debutant director Shazia Iqbal.
“The filmmaker believes that this zone of going against all odds for love has potential to get a franchise value. After contemplating on several subjects, the filmmaker has greenlit a subject that qualifies to be a sequel to Dhadak,” Pinkvilla had reported a source saying.
Dhadak marked Janhvi and Ishaan’s debut in Bollywood. Dhadak 2 might have marked Shazia’s debut in the industry. If not Dhadak 2, Shazia is likely to debut anyway.
Meanwhile, Karan is busy with his directorial film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra in pivotal roles. It is slated to release in theatres on July 28.
