This is where Karan did not only take a dig at Kartik for stealing Bhool Bhulaiyaa from Akshay Kumar but also had a strong view on nepotism.

During his rap battle with Kartik Aaryan at a recent awards show, Karan Johar said, "Aaj kal ke hero dekho stealing their franchise!" This was, of course, in reference with Kartik taking over the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, which originally had Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

Karan Johar's take on nepotism

"Tum ho naye student main evergreen faculty, let me introduce you to the real royalty. Khans and Kapoors are still the OG guys," Karan said before talking about Kartik stealing the franchise. This is, obviously, in reference to him being tagged as the 'flagbearer of nepotism' by Kangana Ranaut.

The actor confessed that his journey to Bhool Bhulaiyaa has been full of thorns rather than roses. He recalls how people were unsure how would he do justice to the character of Rooh Baba, which was immortalized by Kumar in the OG film. Time passed and Kartik was a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 as well. The movie, too, was clashing with Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. Thus, many were uncertain whether the movie would even work at the Box Office upon release. Of course, as now have the verdict as well.
