Kantara is now officially out in theatres in all five intended languages as the Malayalam version made its way out on October 20. Popular actor and filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran distributes Kantara in Malayalam and this marks his fourth collaboration with Hombale Films following K.G.F: Chapter 2 (as distributor), Tyson (as director), and Salaar (cast to play a crucial role).

And Kantara Malayalam, according to the latest trade reports is off to a credible start at the box office and has collected close to Rs. 0.4 crores (net) on the opening day and followed it up with Rs. 0.3 crores on the first Saturday (October 21). The film, as revealed by Prithviraj himself, has released in several theatres across Kerala and has been getting encouraging responses from the audience. One can expect Kantara Malayalam to fare similarly over the next few days although the release of Monster (starring Mohanlal) and the Nivin Pauly starrer Padavettu might have a say on how Rishab Shetty's film performs during the weekend.

Previously, Prithviraj Sukumaran has showered praise on Kantara and supposedly even volunteered to distribute the film in Malayalam. He would highlight Rishab Shetty's mastery both in front and behind the camera and also praise Hombale Films for their enviable repertoire of films - Prithviraj is also helming a film titled Tyson which will mark Hombale Films' debut in Malayalam cinema.

Alongside, the Theerpu actor will play the role of Vardhaeaj Mannar in Prashanth Neel's film Salaar which also stars Prabhas, Sruthi Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and others.

Coming back to the Kantara box office, the film has inched closer to the Rs. 150 crore mark (net) in India and over Rs. 172 crores in terms of gross collections. The worldwide collection is currently at Rs. 185.5 crores (gross). Both Kantara Hindi and Kantara Telugu have gone past the Rs. 15 crores mark individually within a matter of a week.
