As expected, the Hindi dubbed version of the film has landed on a different streaming platform
Rishab Shetty's Kantara debuted on OTT on Amazon Prime Video a few days ago and has been making the headlines for myriad reasons ever since. From the Varaha Roopam controversy to Tumbbad creative director Anand Gandhi's scathing comments about the film, social media has been buzzing with one Kantara update after another.
In the same vein, fans had been curious to know when the Hindi version of Kantara would premiere on OTT. The Amazon Prime Video release on November 24 comprises the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam versions with Kantara Hindi slated to premiere on a future date.
Well, the wait is finally over as the latest updates inform that Kantara Hindi will be available on Netflix from December 9 (2022) - the streaming platform reveals the same as part of its slate of upcoming releases.
Kantara's digital premiere on November 24 occurred amid tremendous fanfare as the many admirers of the film ardently looked forward to experiencing the "Divine Blockbuster" from the comforts of their homes. At the same time, the makers also faced some backlash from those who were miffed about Kantara Hindi being delayed, although media reports emerged right after to state that the dubbed version would soon be out on Netflix.
Previously, Rakshit Shetty & co. too had opted for not one but two streaming partners in the form of Amazon Prime Video and Voot Select. While the latter currently hosts the original Kannada version, the dubbed Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam version are available on Prime Video on rent-only basis (at Rs. 129).
On the other hand, Kantara continues to fare well in theatres despite the film being available on digital platforms. Having grossed more than Rs. 400 crores already, Kantara has been released in six different languages over the course with Tulu being the latest addition: Kantara Tulu was first released overseas on November 25 and later in India on December 2.
