The Bollywood actor said that he was impressed by Rishab's conviction, storytelling, direction and acting
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara has quite a celeb fan following, including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Agnihotri, Allu Arjun, Prabhas, Anil Kumble, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kiccha Sudeep, among many others. The latest to join this ever-growing list is Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan.
The actor, who presumably watched the Hindi version of the film after it dropped on Netflix last Friday, took to social media to praise Rishab’s conviction, storytelling, direction and acting. Hrithik wrote, “Learnt so much by watching #Kantara. The power of @shetty_rishab’s conviction makes the film extraordinary. Top notch storytelling, direction & acting. The peak climax transformation gave me goosebumps 🤯 Respect & kudos to the team.”
Touched by his gesture, Rishab responded with a simple message of gratitude, writing, “Thank you so much sir ❤️❤️❤️.” The film’s leading lady, Sapthami Gowda also replied “Hawww 🫠🫠Thank you @iHrithik sir 🥰🙏🏻.”
Rishab, who has become a national icon thanks to the film, has been flying across the country to talk about how Kantara came to be and the traditions of coastal Karnataka he explored in it. The actor-filmmaker is now set to begin work on Kantara 2, for which he has excused himself from some of his previous acting commitments.
While the makers of Bachelor Party are actively scouting for a replacement for Rishab, Bell Bottom 2, which was to take off soon, may also be delayed indefinitely. Rishab’s proposed directorial with Shivarajkumar is also unlikely to be on his agenda in the foreseeable future. The actor-filmmaker has apparently sought the blessings of Guliga Daiva before embarking on the making of the next instalment in the franchise.
Netizens have been wondering whether Rishab will now do a sequel, given that Kantara ended with his character Shiva disappearing into the darkness of the woods, much like his father, leaving behind a heavily pregnant Leela (Sapthami). One set believes that Kantara 2 will explore the story from the perspective of Shiva’s son, but others believe that it would be too similar to Kantara, given that it was about Shiva’s feelings after his father disappeared. So, the best option then, they say, is to have prequel, which explains the origins of Panjurli Daiva and Guliga, which have been explored in Kantara.
