Rishab Shetty's film grossed over Rs. 20 crores over the fourth weekend of its theatrial run to take the worldwide collections closer to that of K.G.F: Chapter 1
Kantara has been going great guns at the cinema halls and despite being in the fourth week of its theatrical run, the film is yielding tremendous results for the makers. Recent trade estimates suggested that the film will cross the Rs. 200 crore mark over the weekend and just as predicted, Rishab Shetty's rivetting drama has grossed more than Rs. 200 crores worldwide.
According to the latest trade reports, Kantara entered the 200 crore club on an emphatic note on Sunday, Day 24, of its theatrical run and has grossed over Rs. 210 crores at the global box office. With the help of these stunning numbers, the film becomes only the third Kannada film in history to earn Rs. 200 crores or more and is currently only behind the two KGF films.
Kantara box office collection: Rishab Shetty's film is now the BIGGEST 'non-KGF' hit in the industry
Quite indeed, the unprecedented rise of Kantara has come as a bit of a pleasant shocker to all the trade analysts who are now keenly looking at newer and bigger targets for the film. Kantara lags behind K.G.F: Chapter 1 by approximately Rs. 30 crores at the moment but considering the ongoing box office performance, one can expect the gap to be bridged over the next few 5-6 days.
In its home state of Karnataka, the film has remained considerably unchallenged at the box office since the time of its release on September 30 but with films like Head Bush and Gandhada Gudi offering some competition now, there could be a dip in sales going forward. However, these predictions can be best deemed as conjecture because over the past three and a half weeks, Kantara has battled it out with multiple big releases such as Vikram Vedha, Ponniyin Selvan 1, Godfather, Doctor G, and a few others to emerge victorious with the most enviable box figures to its name.
Kantara, reportedly, is also the second Kannada film in history to collect more than $1 Million at the U.S.A box office and has done so within 23 days. The Hombale Films production is also the highest-rated Indian film on IMDb as of today.
