The box office numbers of Kantara have witnessed an impressive 72% jump on Day #2 alone and one can expect the Rishab Shetty film to grow further in the coming days.
Rishab Shetty's Kantara has yet another rewarding day at the box office as the film closes Day #2 of its theatrical run on a high. Having collected about Rs. 3.5 crores on the opening day, Kantara is buoyed by the highly positive word-of-mouth publicity and according to the latest trade reports, the film has seen a whopping 72% rise in box office earnings on Day 2. Kantara, reportedly, has earned close to Rs. 6.75 crores (net) on Saturday, October 1, to take the opening two-day collections over Rs. 10 crores.
In this vein, the first Sunday of Kantara's theatrical run too is highly likely to be a fruitful one for the makers: as per the current estimates, the film looks set for an Rs. 8 crores Sunday to take the overall earnings close to the Rs. 20 crore mark. These numbers are particularly impressive considering the influx of theatrical releases this Friday and the fact that Kantara had to reckon with the likes of Ponniyin Selvan - 1, Vikram Vedha, and others at the box office.
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara is a meta adventure-thriller that is centred on the various vibrant traditions of the southern coast of Karnataka. Rishab's central performance as the hot-headed but exuberant Shiva has been singled out as one of the main contributors to the success of the film, with the concluding 15-20 minutes of the film elevating the overall impact to a whole new level. Many celebrities, including Salaar actor Prabhas, have showered praise on Kantara by terming it a gem of a film. Kantara has been produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films.
