Malayalam cinema audiences can go on a movie marathon this weekend with exciting new releases. While Mammootty’s blockbuster investigative thriller Kannur Squad makes its way to the digital space, Kalyani Priyadarshan’s comedy drama Sesham Mikeil Fathima will hit cinemas on November 17. Kalyani’s comedy film will knock heads with Basil Joseph’s family drama Falimy, which features an ensemble star cast including Jagadish, Manju Pillai, Sandeep Pradeep and Meenaraj Palluruthy.

With several releases lined up, here's the list of theatrical and OTT releases to watch this weekend.

Kannur Squad

Mammootty’s biggest hit of the year, Kannur Squad, helmed by Roby Varghese Raj, will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting November 17. The investigative thriller revolves around ASI George Martin and his team, known as the Kannur Squad, who are on the lookout for a missing man in the Kannur-Virajpet forest area. Besides Mammootty, Kannur Squad also stars Rony David Raj, Shabareesh Varma, Azees Nedumangad, Vijayaraghavan and Kishore. The impressive screenplay and compelling performances make it a must-watch.

Falimy

Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph is all set for the release of his road trip comedy drama film, Falimy, that is directed by Nithish Sahadev. The comedy also stars Jagadish, Manju Pillai, Sandeep Pradeep and Meenaraj Palluruthy. The movie revolves around Basil's character, who is enthusiastic about getting married. Jagadish plays his carefree father. Basil's character's brother suggests he skip an arranged marriage and consider getting into a live-in relationship, deeming it less time-consuming and more convenient. The narrative unfolds as the family embarks on a journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Varanasi in search of a suitable bride for Basil's character. The film is set to be released in theatres on November 17.

Phoenix

Director: Vishnu Bharathan

Aju Varghese is gearing up for the release of his horror drama Phoenix, which is helmed by debutant director Vishnu Bharathan. The movie is the story of John (Aju) and his family, who relocate to an island village. However, things take a turn for the worse when a new member joins them, leading to a series of horrifying events. The movie unfolds when the family tackles the obstacles that come their way. The film narrates the story of how Fathima breaks free from stereotypes to pursue her dreams. Directed by Manu C Kumar, Sesham Mikeil Fathima is about chasing one's dreams and passions. The film will be released in theatres on November 17.

Velukkakka Oppu Ka
