Kannur Squad starring Mammootty, has been attracting large crowds to the cinemas since its release this week. Thanks to the overwhelming response to the film on Day 1, the number of screens was increased from 160 to 250. The movie has earned more than ₹20 crores worldwide in just three days. Mammootty recently celebrated the film’s success by cutting a cake with director Roby Varghese Raj, screenwriters Rony David Raj and Muhammed Shafi, composer Sushin Shyam and actor Shabareesh Varma. Kannur Squad’s plot and cast

Kannur Squad is a movie based on the real-life experiences of nine police officers, who worked together in a crime investigation team under Kerala Police. S Sreejith formed the squad while he was serving as Superintendent of Police in Kannur district at the time. The movie also stars Azeez Nedumangad and Rony. The plot follows the journey of four officers, as they investigate a crime in the Kasargod district. ASI George Martin (Mammootty) leads the team, as they pursue criminals from Kerala to Maharashtra and beyond. Mammootty Kampany - which has previously backed projects like Rorschach and Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam - has bankrolled Kannur Squad.

Why Kannur Squad is different from Kuttavum Shikshayum

Kannur Squad is similar to Asif Ali’s Kuttavum Shikshayum when it comes to the fact that both are investigative movies that have travel elements. However, in a recent interview, the cast members and writers of Kannur Squad spoke about how the film is different from Kuttavum Shikshayum. According to them, Kannur Squad does not have a slow-burn or documentary-style approach. Mammootty also noted that the movie offers plenty of excitement to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.
