A few action-packed commercial entertainers are joined by a love triangle and a film with a hard-hitting message for society, among others
With a lot of big-ticket movies lined up for the Dasara festive season, the first couple of weeks of October will see a slew of smaller movies hitting theatres. There’s Chiranjeevi Sarja’s last film, which comes more than three years after his demise, as well as Vinod Prabhakar’s solo venture, and two films led by a bunch of newcomers. And if a trip to theatres isn’t what you’ve got in mind, there’s a Kannada dubbed film that may catch your fancy.

Rajamarthanda
The late Chiranjeevi Sarja’s last commercial film is finally headed to theatres and releases on his brother Dhruva Sarja’s birthday. At the time of his untimely demise, Chiranjeevi had not dubbed for the K Ramnarayan directed film, a task that Dhruva took upon himself later. An action-oriented commercial entertainer, Rajamarthanda pairs Chiranjeevi with Deepthi Sati, while Meghashree, Triveni Rao and Saurav Lokesh also star in pivotal roles.
Abhiramachandra
A film about three friends, Abhi, Ram and Chandra, the Nagendra Ganiga directorial follows the trio and how matters of the heart then come between them. While Abhi has been pining for a childhood crush and hopes to some day take the relationship forward, things get complicated when Ram falls in love with the same girl. Who will get a happily-ever-after and who will have heartbreak – that forms the crux of the film starring, Ratha Kiran, Siddu Moolimani, Natya Ranga and Shivani Rai V.
Fighter
Director Nuthan Umesh presents an action-packed family entertainer with Vinod Prabhakar in the lead. Pavana and Lekha Chandra are the female leads in the film, which also stars Sharath Lohithashwa, Raj Deepak Shetty, Nirosha and Kuri Pratap, among others.
Aade Nam God
Veteran director PH Vishwanath takes a serious subject and attempts to present it in a simple and entertaining manner with a bunch of newcomers on the cast. According to the official synopsis of the film, Aade Nam God follows four boys, a goat and a journey of blind faith and superstition. Leading the cast is Nataraj Bhat, who is joined by Ajit Boppanalli, Manjunath Jambe, Anoop Shoonya, Sarika Rao and B Suresha.
Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty
Anushka Shetty and Naveen Polishetty lead this Telugu original romantic comedy that revolves around a chef, who’s reluctant about marriage and a struggling standup comedian, who barely makes money but thinks highly of himself. What happens when they fall in love forms the crux of the film.
