This Sankranti, there's no Kannada original film, but some others have been dubbed for the benefit of audiences in Karnataka
It is the Sankranti/Pongal weekend and this time around, there are no straight Kannada films in theatres to give the big-ticket releases from across the boarder some form of competition. It was in 2022 that Daali Dhananjaya brought Orchestra, Mysuru to theatres for the festivity. The film got a lot of love, especially after its OTT outing, but the box office clearly belonged to Vijay’s Varisu, Ajith’s Thunivu, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. This year, there are quite a few players seeking a bite of the Sankranti market, including Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav, Naa Saami Ranga, and Dhanush’s Captain Miller, but most are releasing in Karnataka in their original language only. Here’s a look at the films that will be served with Kannada-dubbed versions this week, as well as the direct OTT content with Kannada audio
