In what can only be seen as a massive blow and loss to Kannada cinema, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away following a massive heart attack. Sources suggest that the actor, who was quite the fitness freak, was working out when he felt unwell and was rushed to a nearby clinic. But as his condition deteriorated, he was then taken to Vikram Hospital.

“The actor was admitted after suffering chest pain at 11.30 am. Trying our best to treat him. His condition is serious. Can't say anything as of now. His condition was bad when brought to hospital, treatment on in ICU,” said Dr Ranganath Nayak, Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru in his initial statement.

The news, of course, took everyone by shock, considering that the actor is one of the fittest in the industry, his workout videos having wowed everyone.

After his condition deteriorated, treatment was stepped up, but around 2.20 pm, they officially announced his passing. The actor was only 46.

As the news of Puneeth's ill health broke, his friends from the industry, and fans gathered outside the hospital, all of them teary-eyed and praying for his recovery.

Preparations are currently on to arrange public viewing of the actor's mortal remains at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The actor's last rites are expected to be held on Sunday at the Kanteerava Studio, as the family awaits his daughter's return to Bengaluru.

Puneeth, whose last release was the hit Yuvarathnaa, had been shooting for his next, James and was expected to make an announcement from his production house on November 1. In fact, only days ago, the actor was seen at the pre-release event of his brother Shivarajkumar's film, Bhajarangi 2, where he joined him and Yash to bust a few moves on screen.
