Kanguva updates: No IMAX release, AI for Suriya's voice, release in eight languages, and more

Kanguva, the long-awaited Suriya starrer directed by director Siva is gearing up for a massive theatrical release in November 2024. Here are some major updates on the project.

Kanguva, the long-awaited film which stars Suriya in the lead role, is finally gearing up for its grand release in November 2024. The movie, which marks the National Award-winning actor’s first collaboration with director Siva, is touted to be a period fantasy film set in different timelines. Suriya is playing a double role in the film, which stars Bobby Deol as the lead antagonist. Recently, producer KE Gnanavel Raja dropped some major updates on Kanguva, in an interaction with cinephiles.

Kanguva is NOT getting an IMAX release

In a recent X (formerly Twitter) Spaces discussion, producer KE Gnanavel Raja extensively spoke about Kanguva, and the makers’ grand plans for the release. The Siva directorial, which is gearing up to hit the theatres on November 14, 2024, is currently in the final stages of its 3D conversion process. According to the producer, apart from a song sequence, almost the entire film has been converted into 3D format. However, Kanguva is not getting an IMAX release as reported earlier, and this update left Suriya’s fans disappointed.

Kanguva in eight languages; AI for Suriya's voice

Interestingly, KE Gnanavel Raja also confirmed that Kanguva is getting a massive global release in around 3500 screens. The period fantasy film has been released in eight languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, English, French, and Spanish. The team is not using a dubbing artist for Suriya in the other language versions of the film, unlike other big-budget Indian films. Instead, director Siva and his team are planning to recreate Suriya’s voice in every language, using advanced AI technology.

Kanguva: A big reveal soon

In his chat with the cinephiles, KE Gnanavel Raja also hinted that the second look of Suriya from the film, which features the actor in a get-up of a modern man, will be revealed in a couple of days. Even though the producer refrained from revealing more details, the netizens believe that he is hinting at the long-awaited Kanguva second single, featuring Suriya and leading lady Disha Patani. An official announcement on the same is expected to be out soon.
