The release of Kanguva, the period movie that stars Suriya, reportedly has been delayed. The Siva directorial is touted to be a VFX-heavy film that is set in a fantasy world.
Suriya is teaming up with hitmaker Siva for his next outing in Tamil cinema. The highly anticipated project, which has been titled Kanguva is touted to be a period fantasy film. Earlier, it was revealed that the makers are keen to release the much-anticipated project during the summer of 2024, mostly in April. However, the recent updates suggest that the release of the Suriya-starrer has been postponed indefinitely.
Suriya’s Kanguva is not getting a summer 2024 release
As per the latest reports, Kanguva is not getting a summer 2024 release as expected earlier. The sources close to the project suggest that the team is planning to change the release of the Suriya-starrer to the second half of 2024 as the post-production works might not get completed by April. As reported earlier, the Siva directorial is a VFX-heavy film that demands an extensive post-production schedule. The makers are planning to take the time needed to finish the work, instead of rushing towards a fixed release date.
Suriya’s multiple looks in Kanguva
The ‘Nadippin Nayagan’ of the Tamil film industry is reportedly appearing in six unique looks in the film, which majorly revolves around a Tamil-speaking tribe that existed in the medieval ages. Suriya’s primary look in the film, which is of a ferocious warrior, had equally astonished his fans and the Tamil cine-goers. Initially, the National award-winning actor beefed up for this part in the film. Later, he shed all those extra kilos, to appear in a modern-day avatar in the Siva directorial.

Kanguva: Cast and crew
The Suriya-starrer features celebrated Bollywood actor Bobby Deol as the lead antagonist. Disha Patani is playing the female lead in the Siva directorial. Kovai Sarala, Jisshu Sengupta, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Natarajan Subramaniam, Anand Raj, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravikumar, Deepa Venkat, and others essay supporting roles in the movie. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the songs and the original score for Kanguva. Vetri Palanisamy is the director of photography. The period fantasy film is jointly produced by the banners Studio Green and UV Creations.
