Amazon Prime Video took to social media to announce the latest addition to its streaming platform. You can start streaming Thalaivii in the regional languages from October 10.
The biopic, earlier came out on big screens on September 10, during the festivities of Vinayaka Chathurthi. Helmed by AL Vijay (of Deiva Thirumagal fame), the movie opened to mixed reviews in various regions of the country. While some of the reviews were warm, which lauded the efforts of the team, others called out the screenplay as dramatic and half-baked. Arvind Swami’s performance as the late actor and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MG Ramachandran aka MGR was lauded among other supporting characters.
In addition to this, its theatrical release also suffered losses as cinema halls in Maharashtra and Kerala were still shut. The ongoing pandemic also prevented the audience from visiting theatres. Multiplexes like PVR cinemas and INOX Leisure Ltd felt the window to Thalaivii’s Netflix premiere was too narrow and decided to not screen its Hindi version.
Followed by several glitches from COVID-19 and postponements, Thalaivii finally saw the light of day on September 10. Now that it is finally streaming on Netflix and going to stream on Amazon Prime from October 10, first-time watchers now have the opportunity to view the movie.
Meanwhile, do let us know your take on watching Thalaivii’s Hindi version.
