Kangana Ranaut also revealed that she would love to reunite with Aanand L. Rai soon, as working on Tanu Weds Manu Returns was like a picnic.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns is among the most praised performances by Kangana Ranaut. The sequel to the 2011 film was more successful than the first instalment, in which the actor had a double role. Currently, Kangana revealed during a recent interaction that the third instalment of the Aanand L. Rai-directed movie, which also features R. Madhavan in the lead role, is in the works.
Kangana Ranaut confirms Tanu Weds Manu 3 in the works:
In an interview with IMDb India, the actor was asked about her upcoming films, to which she replied, "Well, I have a couple of projects lined up. I'm starting a thriller with Vijay Sethupathi, and a film called Noti Binodini is also going on the floor. And another film called Tanu Weds Manu 3—that's also one we're starting. So there are a couple of things that are lined up."
Kangana's desire to work with Aanand L. Rai again:
During the same interaction, Kangana also revealed that she would like to reunite with the filmmaker by saying, "I would want to work with Aanand L. Rai again, who did Tanu Weds Manu Returns. I don't get to do too many comedies. I was telling sir that for me, it was never like a film; it was just a picnic that I was a part of. And all my films are so intense—always so intense. I just kind of need a break; probably that's why."
For her performance, Kangana bagged her third National Film Award after Fashion and Queen.
Earlier, on the film's eighth anniversary, Madhavan reflected on the film's lasting influence; he remarked that it's hard to imagine that it has been eight years since the release of Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The actor has a soft spot for this movie, and he can't believe how much support it's still getting after all this time. Madhavan owes a debt of gratitude to the entire film crew and the viewers who made this experience one he will never forget.
Aanand L. Rai's perspective on the Tanu Weds Manu franchise:
Aanand added that Tanu Weds Manu just celebrated its anniversary, and Tanu Weds Manu Returns has been out for eight years. He called it one of his all-time favourite projects to direct and said that this movie was a blast to make. It also let him maximise Madhavan and Kangana's abilities, and he is thrilled that modern audiences still consider the picture a classic.
The Tanu Weds Manu franchise boasts a talented cast, including Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhasker, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Eijaz Khan, and Jimmy Sheirgill.
