Kangana Ranaut reveals the 'greatest compliment ever’ Rekha gave her

The actress was last seen in Dhaakad, which also starred Arjun Rampal.

Kangana Ranaut is never one to shy away from speaking her mind, and giving her achievements their due space in the limelight. But despite what audiences may feel about her outspoken nature, the actress’ consistently strong on screen performances have made her a force to reckon with in the industry. In addition to earning her numerous accolades, her acting prowess also seems to have gotten her praise from even veteran stars as well. Ranaut recently shared the admirable words of praise showered on her by none other than Rekha herself.

Taking to her official Instagram, the actress shared a photograph posted by a fanpage. It featured a collage of Rekha and Ranaut, with a quote by the former. In it Rekha mentions how if she had a daughter, she would have liked her to be like Ranaut. Rekha also referred to the actress as a ‘real life Lakshmi Bai’, possibly in reference to the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi in which Ranaut played the titular character. Sharing the photo to her Instagram stories Ranaut wrote “Greatest compliment ever”.

Ranaut was last seen in the spy thriller Dhaakad, helmed by Razneesh Ghai. The film, also starring Arjun Rampal, had put up a dismal performance at the box office, earning less than Rs 5 crores. The film is available for streaming on ZEE5.

The actress is currently working on her upcoming film Emergency, which she is also directing and producing in addition to starring in. The film, which marks her first solo directorial venture, is reportedly based on the Emergency period in the country. Ranaut will essay the role of Indira Gandhi in the film. As a producer, Ranaut is backing Tiku Weds Sheru, which features Avneet Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. The actress will also be seen in Tejas.
