Kangana Ranaut's Emergency was scheduled to be released on September 6. The film will now be pushed back by two weeks.
Emergency will mark the directorial debut of Kangana Ranaut. After multiple date changes, the film was supposed to hit the theatres on September 6, 2024. However, amid the growing controversies, the biographical political drama has been postponed. Now, the film will be pushed back by two weeks. The actress reacted after the Bombay High Court's order on the delay in clearance of Emergency by the Central Board of Film Certification.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Kangana Ranaut reacted to a tweet by Live Law. She wrote, "High court has blasted censor for illegally withholding the certificate of #emergency."
PTI reported that the court refused to pass any order given an order by the Madhya Pradesh High Court directing the CBFC to consider objections before certifying the movie.

Kangana's directorial debut will now be pushed back by two weeks as the high court directed the censor board to consider the objections raised against the film and then certify it by September 18.
Meanwhile, the film's producer Zee Entertainment Enterprises approached the Bombay High Court seeking direction to the CBFC to issue a certificate for the biopic emergency.
On September 4, a division bench of Justices B P Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla accepted the producer's contention that the certificate was prepared but not issued.
Furthermore, the bench stated that once the certificate was issued online to the makers of the film, the CBFC's contention that it was not issued as the chairperson did not sign the certificate is incorrect. The court, however, noted that had it not been for the order from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the CBFC would have been directed to issue the certificate on Wednesday (September 4).
While hearing a petition filed by Zee Entertainment, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday (September 4) said it could not grant any relief given the Madhya Pradesh High Court's order siding with the petitioner in the matter.
Emergency is a biographical political drama. It will revolve around the 21 months from 1975 to 1977 when the late Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi imposed a state of emergency across India. Kangana Ranaut will play the role of Indira Gandhi in the film.
Meanwhile, the cast of the film also features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
