Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali made its theatrical release on February 25 and has gotten off to a flying start. With love pouring in from every corner of the country, Kangana Ranaut is the latest star to make remarks about the film.

Kangana Ranaut took to the story feature on Instagram to comment about the movie, saying that she never expected the movie mafia would rise to the occasion. “Happy to hear theatres are being revived in the South film industry with record breaking collections….I hear some baby steps are being taken in the Hindi belly also….(sic)” she wrote.

While there was no direct mention of the movie, she continued saying that a female centric movie with a big hero and a super star director are making baby but significant steps for helping theatres.

“Never expected the movie mafia will rise to the occasion and do something good”, she also added. The actor finished the story by saying that if they do, we will be absolutely appreciative and hoping for the best.

While the post is cryptic in nature, the star had earlier attacked Bhatt, criticizing the filmmaker for casting her in the role of the titular character.

Co-written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the biographical crime drama follows the young titular character, who in no time becomes a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura.

Produced by Jayantilal Gada and Bhansali under the banner of Pen India Limited and Bhansali Productions, the movie also feature Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa play pivotal roles with Ajay Devgn featuring in an extended cameo appearance as Karim Lala.
