Kangana Ranaut made the allegations in the recent court proceedings in the defamation case filed against her by Javed Akhtar.
Kangana Ranaut appeared before a court in Mumbai recently to record her statement in the defamation case filed against her by Javed Akhtar. During the proceedings, the actress stated that Akhtar had threatened and insulted her when she had refused to apologise to Hrithik Roshan.
According to a report in India Today, the actress had appeared in the court proceedings with her sister Rangoli Chandel. Ranaut submitted her statement in which she alleged that Akhtar had threatened her saying that she would have to live in infamy among the public if she didn't apologise to Roshan and ‘save herself’. Roshan and Ranaut, who worked together on Krrish 3, had been involved in a public dispute. The actress claimed that Akhtar told her she would ‘drown in shame’ and that ‘they’ had all the evidence on their side. Kangana spoke of how the lyricist told her that she would be driven to suicide and her ‘face blakckened’ if the matter came into the public eye. The actress added that Akhtar had said all of it to make her apologise to Roshan.
Akhtar’s comments had caused her deep ‘mental disturbance’, she said, and spoke of how the former had committed ‘serious crimes’ against her. Her plea reportedly stated that Akhtar had her forcefully give a written apology to Roshan, calling it an ‘extortion of an apology’. The report states that the actress’ had revealed the same, and that the apology was forced out of her to tarnish her public image and so that the public verdict would be favourable to her co-star Roshan.
Akhtar had filed a defamation case against Ranaut in 2020, for the comments the latter had said about him in a televised interview that followed the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. The actress has also filed a counter case of defamation against the lyricist as well.
