The movie is helmed by Sagar, who had previously directed Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Sathyam Maathrame Bodhipikku and Veekam
In the past few years, one actor who has risen among the ranks of characters artistes is Indrans. Having won the Kerala State Award for Best Actor a few years ago and also starred in the popular OTT release #Home last year, Indrans will next be seen in director Sagar’s Kanakarajyam.
The first look poster of the movie was released by Mollywood celebs Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Saiju Kurup through their social media pages on Friday. The poster represented a family photo with the characters essayed by Indrans, Jolly and Athira Patel, who played a pivotal role in Shane Nigam’s Bhoothakalam that is streaming on Sony LIV.
Kanakarajyam also has actor and scriptwriter Murali Gopy as one of its leads along with Indrans. The film, which is touted to be a family drama, is reportedly based on two true incidents that happened in Alappuzha, Kerala, a few years ago. This marks Sagar’s third directorial after the investigative thriller Sathyam Maathrame Bodhipikku and Veekam – both of which had Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead.
According to the makers, the film will be a realistic portrayal of the events and the filmmaker has stayed away from adding any commercial elements to ensure that the story is told in the right manner. Sreejith Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh, Dinesh Prabhakar, Rajesh Sharma and Ramya Suresh are also part of the cast of the film, which is produced by Vinayaka Ajith.
Meanwhile, Sagar’s Veekam is also gearing up for release. The thriller also has Sheelu Abraham, Aju Varghese, Jagadish and Dinesh Prabhakar. “Dhyan, Sheelu and Dinesh who play a doctor, an IPS officer and a delivery boy, respectively, are the three main characters,” Sagar had earlier told OTTplay about the movie which is set against the backdrop of a medical campus.
