The film, helmed by Shankar is the sequel to the 1996 film, Indian, which marked his maiden collaboration with Kamal Haasan
If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, the digital rights of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's most awaited project Indian 2 has been bagged by Netflix for a whopping Rs 200 plus crore. The deal has been struck for streaming the Shankar directorial in multiple languages, according to the reports. Netflix or the film's team is yet to make an official announcement about the same. If the news is indeed true, this is said to be a record-breaking deal of sorts.

Shankar and Kamal Haasan are coming together after a long hiatus and the director is currently in Los Angeles collaborating with Lola VFX. It is said that de-aging VFX technology has been used in the film. Shankar had recently dropped a picture from the studio of Lola VFX, who are said to be one of the pioneers in VFX in Hollywood. They had used the technology in Robert De Niro's Irishman Robert De Niro and in Avengers End Game.
Kamal Haasan will be seen in a younger avatar using the technology. It is to be noted that the original film, Indian (1996) was one of the pioneers in using advanced prosthetic makeup in films. In the sequel, they will be using yet another revolutionary technology, thus setting a benchmark once again.
The team of Indian 2 has wrapped the shoot and the post-production is currently in full swing. The film's ensemble star cast comprises Kajal Agarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Vennela Kishore among others in key roles. The film will also feature the late Nedumudi Venu and Vivekh.
While music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography is by R Rathnavelu and Ravi Varman and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies are bankrolling the film.
