After a short hiatus, another Tamil movie is set for a big re-release. Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the production house of Kamal Haasan, announced it, leaving his fans in a tizzy. The Ulaganayagan's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu had a re-release a few months ago.
The Gautham Menon directorial opened to an encouraging response, bringing back memories of the action drama which was originally released in 2006. Cinephiles were curious to know which popular film would next announce its re-release. It was Rajinikanth's Baba that made the trend popular in Kollywood.
Kamal Haasan's cult black comedy is set for a re-release
Pesum Padam is the movie that is gearing up for a grand re-release. The announcement has left fans surprised and thrilled. They are now waiting for an update on its release date. RKFI's surprise post read, "#Pushpak #Pesumpadam, a pioneer in silent black comedy and an iconic masterpiece of Indian cinema, will be re-released in theatres soon (sic)."
The movie helmed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao was dubbed into several languages. It was titled Pushpak in Hindi, Pushpaka Vimana in Kannada and Pushpaka Vimanam in Telugu. Samir Khakhar, Amala, Tinu Anand and Pratap Potan among others play important characters in the film.
Unique in every way
The film was hailed as a one-of-its-kind attempt in the country by cinephiles and critics. It touched upon crime, romance, social issues and various other aspects in an entertaining manner. The movie without dialogues offered a unique experience for film enthusiasts.
BC Gowrishankar has cranked the camera for Pesum Padam which has editing by D Vasu and music by L Vaidyanathan. RKFI produced the movie along with Shringar Nagaraj.
