Speaking or writing anything about the legendary Kamal Haasan will be equivalent to showing a candlelight before the sun! The legacy of the superstar is totally unparalleled. His repertoire of films mirrors a cross section of roles that he has done in his career. Be it that of a don or a village sarpanch or even the path breaking dwarf, this man has ‘been there, done that’.

Legacy of Nayakan

Speaking about his role of a don, readers may recall that, the legendary Kamal Haasan had portrayed the role of a kind-hearted and principled don in the Tamil smash hit film ‘Nayakan’. On the occasion of the superstar actor’s birthday (which is on November 7), the makers of the film have now decided to re-release the film, as per a report in Bollywood Hungama. There has been no official announcement or confirmation regarding the same.

Tinnu Anand- the gamechanger

As for the film ‘Nayakan’, it is considered as one of the path breaking films in the showbiz industry, thanks to the unparalleled performance by each and every actor in the film. Be it Kamal Haasan’s stellar performance as the ‘don with a heart’ or Saranya (the actress who played his wife), the veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, the powerful performer Nassar and others. Amongst all this, how can anyone forget the spell binding climax of the film which was shouldered by Tinnu Anand, who nailed his performance as Ajit Kelkar, who can also be termed as a 'game changer'.

One of Mani Ratnam's evergreen films

The film was directed as well as written by Mani Ratnam. Adding a magical touch to the film’s narrative was its evergreen music which was composed by the original music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. As for the film, it had won Kamal Haasan his National Award for Best Actor, P.C.Sriram for the Best Cinematography and Thotta - Tharani for the ‘Best Art Direction’.
