Haasan is awaiting the release of the film Vikram, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das, among others.
The last few weeks have seen a lot of discussion about cinema from the north and the south. A number of big ticket stars have also stepped into the conversation and the latest to join the debate is Tamil superstar and politician, Kamal Haasan.
“I am an Indian, what are you? For me, the Taj Mahal is mine and the Madurai temple is yours. Kanyakumari is as much yours as Kashmir is mine,” said Haasan while promoting his upcoming film Vikram in the national capital, as reported by The Indian Express.
The filmmaker also gave a take on his idea of pan-Indian cinema, something that has been discussed a lot recently. He said that the idea of pan-Indian cinema has been around for a long time and pointed out that he considers films such as Padosan and Mughal-E-Azam as pan-Indian.
He added that India is unique and that unlike other countries, we speak different languages and are united, so we will continue to make films that are pan-Indian.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan’s Tamil film, Vikram is an action thriller, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil with Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Chemban Vinod Jose, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das in supporting roles. The movie is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and is backed by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International.
The makers will also release the movie in a Hindi dubbed version, which is titled Vikram Hitlist. The makers recently released the movie’s trailer and a Hindi version of the trailer. The Hindi version has over 7 million views on YouTube.
The highly anticipated action thriller is set to hit theatres around the country on June 3.
