Actor Kamal Haasan is one of the most multi-faceted and versatile actors in India and is currently working on various exciting projects. However, one of them is his much-anticipated upcoming film and sequel, Indian 2. The film, directed by S Shankar, is the sequel to the duo's 1996 vigilante action film Indian.

While the film suffered from various issues and setbacks, delaying production, speculation is rife that the film will soon be released in theatres. However, no official announcement has been made in this regard.

Indian 2 to have a summer release?

As per speculations, Indian 2 is expected to release in theatres sometime in mid-May, making it a strong contender at the box office for a summer release. Indian 2, which is one of the most-anticipated sequels in the Tamil industry, is directed by Shankar. If the news is indeed true that Indian 2 will release in May, it will be Kamal Haasan’s first full-fledged release in 2024. The actor will be making a cameo appearance in Prabhas’ pan-Indian film Kalki AD 2898, which is scheduled to release on May 9.

Indian 2 boasts an ensemble star cast including SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore, and Deepa Shankar, among others. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, who replaced AR Rahman (who scored the 1996 film).

The sequel is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. The movie’s cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman and Rathnavelu, and it is edited by A Sreekar Prasad. The post-theatrical rights have been secured by Netflix.

Kamal Haasan’s upcoming line-up

Kamal Haasan was last seen in Vikram under Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram. The actor is currently shooting for filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life. The actor is also part of the Prabhas-Nag Ashwin film Kalki AD 2898, in which he will be making a cameo appearance. The film is scheduled to release on May 9. Kamal will also collaborate with the AnbAriv brothers on a film.
