The Ulaganayagan was speaking at the film's pre-release event at Kochi,
Kamal Haasan and Mammootty
Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram is set for a grand theatrical release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on June 3. Kamal Haasan, who plays the titular role apart from bankrolling the project, has been busy promoting the action film in many places like Chennai, Delhi and Kochi.
The team has plans to attend promotional events in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Malaysia and Dubai, too, in the coming days. At the pre-release event which was held at Kochi, Kamal spoke in length about his love for Kerala and his association with Mollywood actors and filmmakers.
The veteran actor-filmmaker had joined hands with Mohanlal in Unnaipol Oruvan which was released in 2009. But he is yet to team up with Mammootty, another big star from the Malayalam film industry. Quite naturally, the crowd who were excited with Kamal's presence and speech, asked him about the possibility of teaming up with the Megastar.
Kamal said that he has been discussing the same with Mammootty for a while, and that he has suggested a few ideas, too. But the latter insisted he wait for better stories that offer ample scope for both of them to perform. Kamal added that though the wait is long, he will surely work with Mammootty in the near future.
He also spoke about how Tamil cinema, unlike other film industries in India, is not encouraging multi-starrers. "Every other industry, including the Hindi movie industry, has been pulling it off. Vikram features Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil along with me. I hope Vikram becomes a precursor for multi-starrers in Tamil," he said.
Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films has bagged the film's theatrical rights in Kerala. The film will release along with Nivin Pauly's Thuramukham on June 3 in the state.
