Director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban seems to be getting bigger. Whether it’s all speculations or if there’s truth in the casting of this much-anticipated movie with superstar Mohanlal will soon be revealed. But as of now, several big stars from industries across the country have confirmed their presence in the film, which is set to begin shooting by January 18 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

While Vidyut Jammwal and Radhika Apte were, up till now, the biggest names reported to be a part of the cast of the film, the grapevine now has it that Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan could also be joining the team in an extended cameo.

Mohanlal and the Vikram star had last teamed up, 14 years ago, in the Tamil remake of A Wednesday – Unnaipol Oruvan. In the upcoming period film, Kamal is rumoured to be essaying the role of Mohanlal’s father. The Malayalam superstar will reportedly be playing the role of a wrestler in Malaikottai Vaaliban, which is scripted by PS Rafique, who had also written Lijo’s Fahadh Faasil-starrer Amen.

Kamal isn’t the only Tamil star attached to the project. Jiiva, who had acted with Mohanlal in Keerthichakra, is also rumoured to be part of the film, which has Madhu Neelakandan as its cinematographer. An official update on the cast of the movie is awaited from the team.

However, we can confirm that Marathi actress Sonalee Kulkarni, Kannada actor and comedian Danish Sait and Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav are part of the movie, which is expected to hit theatres this year itself.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal recently wrapped up the Tunisia and Morocco portions of his action-thriller Ram, which is directed by Jeethu Joseph. The superstar’s next release is Alone, directed by Shaji Kailas, which is slated to release on January 26. He also has the 4K version of Spadikam set to hit theatres on February 9.
