Cinematographer-turned-director PV Shankar has opened up about his upcoming adventure drama Kalvan, headlined by GV Prakash Kumar
Ever since cinematographer PV Shankar announced his directorial debut, fans have been waiting for a visual treat. And PV Shankar isn't going to disappoint the fans. The Ratsasan-fame cinematographer’s upcoming directorial Kalvan, starring GV Prakash Kumar , is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on April 4.
Speaking about the film, the newbie director heaped praise on the leading man – GV Prakash Kumar – for his ‘naturalistic and exceptional performance’ in the film. The director said that GV Prakash's passion for Kalvan has been commendable. “It's not easy to concentrate on music and acting at the same time. However, he has exceeded our expectations with his naturalistic acting and great music for this film,” the director remarked.
The director also credited other cast members for the film’s fine output. “Ivana is a true talent who has delivered a good performance in this film. Working with Bharathiraja sir is a dream come true, and I am grateful for the opportunity”, the director revealed.
The upcoming GV Prakash-starrer, which primarily revolves around the issue of poaching, was entirely shot in the locations of Sathyamangalam forest reserve. “As a cinematographer, I believe that films with forest settings and compelling stories go well among the public. Kalvan will be a great entertainer for the audience, combining plenty of action, adventure and emotional scenes," he said.
The upcoming adventure drama revolves around poaching and how two thieves try to steal something precious from the forest. The film is also expected to shed light on ecological preservation. The film stars Bharathiraja, Ivana, Dheena, G Gnanasambandam, and Vinoth Munna in key roles. The film is produced by G Dilli Babu under Axess Film Factory. The camera work is handled by director Shankar himself.
The OTT rights of Kalvan have been bought by Disney+ Hotstar and will be available for streaming on the digital platform after its theatrical run.
