Actress Kalki Koechlin expressed her gratitude after receiving a heartwarming response for her film titled Goldfish during its world premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival. The festival was held in South Korea from October 5 to 14.

The English-language film is directed by Pushan Kripalani and produced by Amit Saxena under the banner Splendid Films and it also stars veteran actors like Deepti Naval, Rajit Kapur, Gordon Warnecke, and Bharti Patel in pivotal roles.

The story of the film revolves around a mother and daughter. Anamika, the child of a mixed marriage, returns home to her estranged mother Sadhana as she is suffering from the onset of dementia. The journey of Anamika starts when she returns to a neighbourhood she barely remembers, to a woman who sometimes doesn’t remember her.

Kalki was present at the premiere along with director Pushan Kripalani and producer Amit Saxena.

Kalki said, “It feels great to see the audience engaged in a movie that has been a labour of love. And the question-answer round went well as we got some really insightful and meaningful questions leading to a wonderful exchange of thoughts."

The actress also mentioned that it was very exciting for every artist to see how the global audience has evolved and an international film festival like this, has given her and many Indian talents a chance to engage with such movie lovers.

Adding to that, director Pushan Kripalani said, “The audience was wonderful. They watched the film with attention and the questions that came to us were thoughtful and engaging.”

The filmmaker especially mentioned how he was impressed with the audience who has so much care for watching a cinema with respect and great details.

“The question and answer session could have gone on for twice as long. I have a lot of respect and love for such careful and insightful viewers of cinema,” the director added.

The film will have its European Premiere at BAFTA and OSCAR qualifying Raindance Film Festival to be held from 26 October to November 5, 2022.
